Massachusetts Garden Upgrades
We decided that a fence of some kind would enhance the view from the street. Properties in this neighborhood were divided by large natural stone walls, 2'-3' high.

I decided that the fence would look better stepping down to the stone wall rather than towering over it at 8', You can see the stepdown a little bit in this picture.

For uniformity I have 2 4x8 panels on each side of the gate, and then the stepdown,
The front-side yard was more than 100 feet from the house to the street.

While we visually separated the side yard at its back end with the fence shown, we had two different gardens..
The one you see here, that started with thus brick circle and plants and then went to the English bench, the backdrop of the lattice and a lamp for nighttime use, or not.
I had a landscaper install the brick circle. After that all the improvements are mine.
Apart from that garden, we had some Japanese plants. So to enhance that theme, I constructed a Torii and a Japanese-style bridge.
A Torii is a traditional Japanese arch, shown in the background.
