Arches

These two arches are variations on Norm Abram’s New Yankee Workshop Redwood Arbor all the way back in season 5, 1992! His arch has a seat in it but I wanted it as a walk-thru arch.

Here is a small pic of what Norm’s seated arch would look like.

The first arch is made of Redwood, holding true to the plan. It was photographed right after completion and is located at the top of my stairway leading from the sidewalk to the front door. I also built a second one to match at the bottom of these stairs.

The connecting rods in these arches are mortise and tenoned for a clean yet very sturdy construction.

The second arbor I built as a gateway from my front yard into a garden sanctuary. I used pressure treated lumber for this project. This is where I have my birdhouse cedar bench that I have also posted.

Since the arch was to be part of the fencing I adapted a gate to it. Of course the only look that would suffice was to keep the circular shape started by the arch.

This is an arch, made of cedar, in my backyard, much simpler
